How to Ship Parts

Shipping can be a great way to allow parts to go long distances. We would like to thank the teams that are willing to go the extra mile to help other teams by shipping parts.

United States

Shipping in the United States can happen by postal service or private carrier.

Postal Service

The US Postal Service is an easy and cheap way to get parts around the United States or abroad. Since it is run by the United States Government, shipping is often significantly cheaper than private carriers.

The best way to ship parts using the Postal Service is with a USPS flat-rate box. These boxes are cheap and not likely to have significant problems.

When shipping with the Postal Service, it is advisable to drop off your box at a post office. This ensures that your package enters the USPS system properly and easily. On very rare occasions, boxes may get lost before they arrive at the post office.

Private Carrier

The United States has two major private package carriers: UPS and FexEx. While packages with UPS and FexEx tend to be more expensive, they usually arrive faster and have tracking. If you want to ship with a private carrier, I would recommend price checking both to figure out which is cheaper.

When shipping with a private carrier, it is advisable to drop off your box at a retail location (Fedex Office or UPS Store). This ensures that your package enters their system properly and easily. On very rare occasions, boxes that are not delivered to the retail stores may be lost.

Shipping to US Territories

Before shipping to a US territory, check to see if customs forms are required. The USPS and private carriers usually work for US territories.
